Three year old boy fell into bore well: rescue operation initiated

Hyderabad: A three year old boy fell into an abandoned bore well on his grandfather farm in Pochampally village in Medak district on Wednesday evening. The district officials including police and local officials immediately launched a rescue effort to save the child Sai Vardhan.

According to the officials and villagers who were attending on the spot sources, the Government officials was digging a trench, parallel to the nearly 150 feet deep bore well, to reach the boy. NDRF personnels has been requisitioned to join the effort. Officials were trying to ascertain the exact location of the boy in the bore well. Four earth movers were pressed into services and oxygen was pumped into the bore well which was sunk just a few hours before the mishap and abandoned as it yield no water.

At about around 5 pm the child Sai Vardhan were playing in the agriculture field belonging to his maternal grandfather Mangali Bikshapathi, slipped and fell into the failed bore well. The Medak District Collector K. Dharma Reddy said it was estimated that the boy could have got stuck at 25- 30 feet inside the bore well. Initially his cries were heard from the bore well. The Collector and District SP Chandhan Deepti reached the spot and were overseeing the rescue operations. Medak MLA Padma Devendar Reddy said Chief Minister KCR was informed about the incident. The CM asked her that no effort should be spared in rescuing the boy, she said.

An ambulance was rushed to the place of the mishap and with the earth movers arriving on the site, police and the local district administration held torches to light up the place to continue rescue efforts all through the night.
