Vijayasai’s Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Parirakshana Yatra draws huge crowds in Vizag

Vishakhapatnam: YSRCP Parliamentary Party Leader Vijayasai Reddy on Saturday said that the State Government was committed to protection of the steel plant. Vijayasai Reddy took part in the steel plant protection Pada Yatra on Saturday from GVMC Gandhi Statue to the Steel Plant main gate.

A large number of people, particularly enthusiastic youth, joined the Yatra. Holding placards against privatization of the Steel Plant, they raised slogans such as ‘Visakha Ukku Andhrula Hakku.  Apart from youth, trade union leaders and workers and various organisations participated in the Yatra.

Before starting Pada Yatra, Vijayasai Reddy interacted with the media persons and said that the YSRCP and the AP State Government is confined to protect the steel plant from the privatization. “Apart from adopting a resolution in the State Assembly against the privatization, we would also raise the issue in Parliament and fight for the steel plant. We will not halt the agitation till the Centre withdraws its decision on privatization of the steel plant,” he said.

Vijayasai Reddy started his Pada Yatra by garlanding the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi at GVMC office, the Minister M. Srinivasa Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishna Das, MPs Pilli Subash Chandra Bose and MVV Satyanarayana were also accompanied with him.

The Vijayasai’s Pada Yatra enrouted Dondaparthy, Thatichetlapalem, Kancharapalem, Urvasi, Marripalem, NAD flyover, airport, Sheelanagar, old Gajuwaka before reaching steel plant main gate at Kurmannapalem where a public meeting will be held around 4.30 pm. Nagari MLA  RK Roja also participated in the Yatra and moved along with Vijayasai Reddy waving to people all along the route.
