
Youth Fires at Anti-CAA Rally: One Injured
New Delhi: A youth opened fire on anti-CAA rally on Thursday on Jamia Millia university students. Nearly Thousand students on Thursday took a anti-CAA rally from JMU to Raj Ghat to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
The CAA protestors started from the university and proceed towards Raj Ghat. The 19 year old youth entered in the crowd with a pistol. Suddenly he waved the pistol in the air and aimed to students and shouting “Ye lo Azadi”, and opened fire on the students. The students rushed to him to take the pistol, one student was got injure in the arm.
The police took the youth custody. The injured student Shadab Farooq was first taken to holy family hospital and later moved to the AIIMS trauma center. The youth who opened fire was captured by television cameras that showed the man in light colored trousers, and a dark jacket, walking away on the empty road barricaded by the police, turning around and shouting at the protestors in Hindi.
In a video, the youth is seen walking back wards as he points his pistol at protestors, dozens of policemen in riot gear are seen behind him, but none of them is seen trying to stop the shooter. “Ye lo Azadi”, he sneered at the protestors. After he fired the shot, one cop could be seen walking towards him and grabbing him. The youth is identified as Ram Bhakta Gopal, a resident of Jewar of Uttar Pradesh.
Do not spare: Amit Shah: The Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a tweet in Hindi said that he ordered the police don’t spare the culprit, who fired on the protestors. He also said that the culprit will get stringent punishment.
