YSRCP, TDP Activists Clashes in Angallu and Punganur 50 Injured

Punganur: The YSRCP and TDP activists raised anti-slogans against on each other and also pelted stones on each other on Friday evening at Angallu village near Punganur constituency in Chittoor District. The clashes was took place when the TDP chief N. Chandra Babu Naidu’s visit to the irrigation projects in Chittoor district.

The YSRCP activists observed bandh on Saturday in Chittoor district in protest of the brutal violence incidents in Angallu on Friday.

Naidu’s derogatory remarks on YCP Minister P. Rama Chandra Reddy at Mulakala Cheruvu in his way to Chittoor caused the clashes. The supporters of Peddi Reddy staged a protest against the derogatory words of Chandra Babu at Angallu with black badges, black balloons and Black Flags.

He also deviated the root map to Chittoor via Punganur caused to the violence incident. TDP activists and YCP activists pelted stones on each other and on police also. The TDP activists set fire to police vehicles and injured 50 police personnel in the incident, out of them 11 are seriously injured.

       Chittoor SP Y Rishanth Reddy said that the violence pre-planned and found fault with the TDP activists for deviating from the scheduled route to reach Punganur and attacking the police. The police have reportedly seized some firearms from a vehicle.

Tension began after a group of TDP activists tried to enter into Punganur through an unscheduled route after learning that the YSRC activists were reportedly staging a protest. When TDP activists were prevented, they clashed with the police, pelted stones at them on the outskirts of Punganur and also set two vehicles on fire. The mob vandalized a VAJRA vehicle, following which the police lobbed tear gas to control the situation.
