AP Government declared two-day mourning in respect of Mekapati Gautam sudden demise

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Government declared a two-day state mourning on Monday for the sudden demise of Mekapati Gautam Reddy, Minister for Industries, Commerce & Information Technology. Mekapati Gautam Reddy’s mortal will lift on air ambulance at 8.30 am from Begumpet airport to Nellore on Tuesday. The last rites of Mekapati Gautam Reddy will be performed in his native Nellore district with police honours on Tuesday. The mortal will shift to his residence in Nellore on Tuesday at 11 am and mortal will be kept for public visit.

Gautam Reddy’s son Arjun Reddy will arrive on Tuesday night to Nellore from America. The last rites of Gautam Reddy will perform at his native constituency Atmakur at Mekapati Engineering College premises with full of State honour by saluting with 21 guns.

AP Government in its order said that National Flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings under the control of the State Government on February 21st and 22nd. There will be no public entertainment during the State mourning. Tributes were paid to the late Gautam Reddy at his chamber in AP Secretariat. Condolences pour in from leaders across political spectrum.

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, TDP president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condoled the death of Gautam Reddy.

Venkaiah Naidu expressed profound grief over Gautam Reddy’s death. He described Reddy as a gentleman. Governor Harichandan expressed profound grief and sadness over the demise. Soundararajan also consoled sudden and sad demise of the Minister and conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family members. Telangana Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Srinivas Yadav, TDP MP Galla Jayadev and eminent people from various walks of life paid tributes.
