Corona virus toll at 132: Global airlines avoid China

Hyderabad:  Due to the spread of deadly Corona virus several International airlines, including Air India and Indigo from India have suspended their flights to China. As on Wednesday 132 people have died in China, nearly all of them in Hubei province, where virus started in December.

The virus infected of 6078 people across the world, China including Hong Kong and Macau reported 5987 cases. According to the Air India sources flights to Shanghai from Delhi and Mumbai would be suspended from January 31 to February 14. Discussions on cancelling flights to Hong Kong are under way. Indian Airlines would suspend its Delhi-Chengdu and Bangaluru – Hong Kong flights from February 1. Its flight to Guangzhou from Kolkata flight would continue to run, but it would be monitored on a daily basis.

Other airlines including British Airways, Air France, United Airlines, Air Canada, and Lion Air have already cancelled some flights to China. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered on Wednesday the military to shoulder their responsibility to contain the Corona virus outbreak.
