Vijayawada: Nine people died in a huge fire accident in Vijayawada on Sunday morning. The fire occurred at Hotel Swarna Palace in Bandar Road in Vijayawada, which is using for the treatment of Covid- 19 patients by the management of Ramesh Hospitals.

According to the police sources, the fire had broken at 5 am on Sunday in the computer room due to short-circuit, the fumes surrounded 1st and 2nd floor. The Hotel Swarna Palace is having 40 rooms, the hospital authorities admitted 35 Covid- 19 patients for treatment. After broken the fire, the blazes scattered and surrounding fumes in the hotel floors, the some of the Covid- 19 patients died due to suffocation.

The police rescued the Covid- 19 patients and sent them to another hospital for treatment. Two persons, one watchmen and other person severely injured, when they jumped from the fourth floor of the hotel. They shifted to the hospital for treatment.
