Hyderabad: Telangana Government gave consent to the Telugu Film industry on Saturday to re – open all theatres and multiplexes in Telangana from Sunday. The Government will be allowed the theatres to function with full occupancy.

Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce members had a meeting on Saturday and decided to re – open theatres. However, most theatres are likely to reopen with new releases only on July 23rd.

The TFCC members submitted demands representation to the Minister in the meeting. The demands are to exempt them from paying property tax for the period covering the last one and a half years.  And allow single screen theatres to collect parking fees and screen more than four shows in a day, exempt them from paying State GST and reduce the charges levied on the permissions given for film shooting, in view of the financial losses faced by them due to the Covid – 19 induced lockdown.
