14 Police Injured in London Protests

London: Thousands of protesters gathered the US embassy in London on Sunday to condemned police brutality after the killing of George Floyd ended with protesters clashing with the police. 14 police officers were injured; two seriously, after protesters hurled bikes, flares, water and glass at them and their horses.

A women officer, who fell off her horse, after being hit by a bottle, remained in a hospital in a serious condition. Atleast two red flares were thrown over the main gates to the street where PM Boris Johnson and PIO Chancellor Rishi Sunak have offices and homes. Atleast 29 people have been arrested.

The protesters gathered outside the US embassy in London on Sunday to condemned police brutality after the killing of George Floyd, some wearing masks, bearing the slogan “Racism is a Virus.” One protester was holding a banner that read, UK guilty too. A footage posted on social media showed demonstrated in Bristol thearing as they tore down a statue of Edward Colston, a 17th century slave trader, and pushed it into a river.

The press protests followed a day of violence on Saturday. the demonstration began peacefully on Saturday in parliament square with tens of thousands of protestors, including pop star Madonna, dropping to one knee and observing a minutes silence before chanting “ No Justice, No Peace” and I can’t breathe.
