15000 New Covid-19 Cases Recorded in a Single Day in India

New Delhi: India’s biggest single day Covid-19 spike yet again on Sunday with 15,372 patients testing positive. The country’s case tally reaches to 426397. For the first time, the country’s daily fatality count cross the 400 mark, barring June 16, when adding back dated deaths by Maharashtra and Delhi governments with a day count to 2003, with 423 causalities recorded on Sunday

The country’s cumulative death toll now is 13965. The spike in both fatalities and fresh cases was contributed to a large extend by Maharashtra. Maharashtra registered the second highest fresh cases with 3870, after the record 3874 cases registered on the Saturday.

The Maharashtra cases have risen to 132075, and with 186 deaths, some of which took place earlier and were added to the count only on Sunday. The state crossed the 6000 mark, taking the cumulative death count to 6170, Mumbai accounted for 1159 new cases and 110 deaths.

Five other states recorded a single day spike Telangana (730), Gujarat (580), Rajasthan (393), Odisha (304) and Kerala (133) said the health ministry sources. However Delhi had piped Tamil Nadu to become the second state with maximum case load in the country. Tamil Nadu registered 2532 fresh cases, taking the tally to 59377.

With 53 fresh deaths Tamil Nadu’s toll have reached 757. In Gujarat registered total cases 27317, with 25 fresh deaths the death toll reached 1664, and the fresh cases reported on Sunday 580.
