Rs. 10 lakhs exgratia to the victims of Boat Accident: YS Jagan

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced Rs. 10 lakhs exgratia to the bereaved families of the boat accident near Kuchaluru Mandam village of Devipatnam mandal in East Godavari district.

  Nearly 61 passengers and 11 member crews of the boat started from Gandipochamma temple Papikondalu in Godavari River on Sunday afternoon, when the boat reached near Kuchaluru Mandam village. Suddenly it was tilted one side and capsized. The villagers of Kuchaluru Mandam saved nearly 27 passengers with other boats. The remaining passengers and crew members missing in the Godavari flood water and not traced.

  The AP CM ordered the officials of East Godavari district to go to the accident spot and take rehabilitation and rescue operations. He also instructed the officials to inform the situation every hour to the CMO. He also deployed the NDRF and SDRF personnel and the ministers to the spot to operate rehabilitation and rescue operations. He also instructed the officials to take ONGC helicopter for rehabilitation works.

   Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound grief on this tragedy incident. He expressed his pain to the bereaved families in his twitter. He also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.  The rehabilitation works are going at the incident spot.

    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benerjee expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

   The East Godavari district Collector also established control rooms at the Collectorate for information call the toll free number- 1800-233-1077 said collector R. Muthyala Raju.
