AP Assembly passed a resolution to abolish the AP Legislative Council

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly unanimously resolved on Monday, the resolution of the abolition of State Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh Assembly resolved the bill unanimously with 133 votes no one can oppose the resolution.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy moved the resolution in the House on Monday, the abolition of the AP Legislative Council which is opposing the public purpose bills with the motivation of politically. The members discussed elaborately on the bill and the opposition TDP’s attitude in the Council at the time of the decentralization of the three capitals and the CRDA repeal bill against the rules of the House.

And also the Chairman M.A. Sharif’s decision on the bills unconstitutionally to support the opposition party’s will. He also took a decision in the name of discretion powers of the Chairman, the two bills referred to the select committee caused damaged to the Government’s ambition of decentralization of the development and the Governance. This action of the Chairman leads to the abolition of the Council.

 

After the discussions on the resolution, the Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram took voting in the House. All the members who are present in the Assembly 133 are voted in favour of the resolution. Among them 132 are YSRCP and one member from Jana Sena, the opposition TDP 23 members not attended the House. The total Assembly of the members is 175.

As the resolution warrants support of 2/3rd of the members present and voted, Speaker Tammineni Sitaram announced that the resolution seeking abolition of the Council was adapted unanimously before adjourning the House sine die. As per the procedure the resolution would be sent to the Centre for approval of the Parliament and Presidential assent.
