Assembly to pass our resolution seeking Bharata Ratna for PV: KCR

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister KCR said that the State Assembly would pass a resolution seeking Bharata Ratna for the former Prime Minister and remaining the arterial necklace road as PV Gnana Marg.

CM also decided to develop Laknepally village where late Narashima Rao was born and Vangara where he grew up as major tourist spots. He also said his Government would urge Centre to rename the University of Hyderabad as PV Narashima Rao Central University in recognition of his services to the nation, especially in the education centre. A resolution will be passed in this regard by the Assembly, he said.

Renaming the UoH as PV Narashima Rao Central University of Hyderabad will be a fitting tribute to him during his birth centenary year, said KCR. The Assembly will also pass a resolution in the upcoming session urging the Centre to confer the Bharata Ratna on the former PM. He reviewed with senior officials on PV birth centenary celebrations here on Friday, he said they would soon send a proposal to Unesco to confer awards in Rao’s name on those who had made a mark in the fields of literature and science and technology.

Telangana Government would take up care of the cash prize, he said. CM instructed the officials to develop the PV Gnana Marg with greenery all long the stretch and install Rao’s idol there. On the propose Rao memorial in Hyderabad, CM said it would be built at international standards. “The memorial will showcase and reflect the great contributions made by PV in various fields”. KCR said PV centenary celebrations would be held worldwide. Arrangements are being made to conduct them in the US, Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia, Mauritius, Australia, Newzealand, Canada and other countries.

KCR said he will personally write invitation to the President, Prime Minister, former US President Bill Clinton, former British Prime Minister John Major and CMs of various states and request them to participate in the celebrations. A portrait of PV would be install in the Assembly. The Government would also urge the Centre to erect his portrait in Parliament, KCR added. It was decided to install in idol in Telangana Bhavan in Delhi. It was also decided to bring out unpublished writings of PV by the Telangana Sahitya Academy. A coffee table book on PV’s life would also be brought out, said the officials.
