Kanyakumari MP Vasantha Kumar dies of Covid- 19

Chennai: Kanyakumari MP H. Vasantha Kumar died of Covid- 19 at a hospital here on Friday. He was elected as MP from Kanyakumari as a Congress candidate. Vasantha Kumar (70) is first time MP, and working President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.

He was admitted to the Apollo hospital on August 10 after he tested +ve for Covid- 19 succumbed to the illness, a party spokesperson said. He was survived by a wife, two sons and a daughter. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami, Telangana Governor Tamilisai, who is niece of Vasantha Kumar, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, P. Chidambaram and DMK President MK Stalin were among those who condoled the death.

Palaniswami expressed grief and said Vasantha Kumar started his career as a salesmen came up in life through his hardwork. He did excellent service for the education and economic growth of the poor and earned the love of the people in his public life. MP Rahul Gandhi said Vasantha Kumar’s untimely death due to Covid- 19 has come as shock.
