Azad Urges Prez to With Hold Assent to Farm Bills

New Delhi: Congress MP Gulam Nabi Azad met President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday evening and urged him to with hold assent to the farm bills. From silent protest to sloganeering and marching from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi to that of B R Ambedkar inside parliament house complex, opposition MPs ramped up their agitation against the Modi’s government over the passage of Farm bills and promised to intensify their protest after returning to their states.

Carrying bundles of Paddy crop in their hands, Congress Lok Sabha MPs, including Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Hibieden and Gurjeet Singh, Aujla walked from parliament up to Vijay Chowk in a protest march. MPs carried placards reading “Save Farmers, Save Workers, Save Democracy” during their march from the Mahatma Gandhi statue to the Ambedkar statue inside parliament and queued up before the Gandhi statue.

Eight suspended MPs Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen (TMC), Rajiv Satav, Ripun Bora and Syed Nazeer Hussain (Congress), Sanjay Singh (Aap), K K Ragesh and Ilamaram Kareem (CPM) said the fight will continue. Our suspension was a murder of democracy, but the bigger issue at hand is the anti-farmer Agri-bills passed by the center. The merit of this issue has reached another level.

Protest and agitations will spread across states, districts, fields and farm lands of India said TMC MP Dola Sen.
