Bharat Bandh is peaceful: no major impact

New Delhi: The banking and workers stage Bharat Bandh on Wednesday ended peacefully and only limited to certain sectors only. The Bharat Bandh called by trade unions affiliated to the left parties and the Congress remained by and large peaceful.

The Bharat Bandh in Kerala saw a complete shutdown, and West Bengal that witnessed violence clashes and no major impact on the people in much of the country. The public sectors banks were remained closed throughout the country. The autos, taxis, buses refused to ply in some cities. The students universities staged marching in protest during Bharat Bandh called by trade unions against the Centre’s “Anti-People Labour Policies” and against the CAA, NRC, NPR as well as the attack on the JNU students.

The day long Bharat Bandh was expected to see the participation of 25 crore peoples. Huge crowds were seen taking part in protests. While the Bandh was remained peaceful, incidents of clashes between TMC and Congress-Left workers were reported in West Bengal. The ruling TMC decided not to participate in the Bandh. Incidents of stone pelting at RTC buses were also seen in Karnataka’s Maddikeri district. The corporate sectors largely worked smoothly while schools and colleges were too were open in several parts of the country. The schools, colleges, Government offices and banks are working as usual in Hyderabad, Telangana State, and no Bharat Bandh impact is there.
