Central plans to control clusters: Covid- 19

New Delhi: The Central Government has prepared a containment plan for large outbreaks that will see the “Bhilwara Model” being replicated in the country’s Covid- 19 hotspots after lock down ends.

As per the Health Ministry sources the officials have so far identified about 62 areas as hotspots though they say that places with even one case or under the scanner. As per the Government’s “Cluster Containment Strategy (CCS)”, States were asked to contain the disease in a defined geographic area by early detection and breaking the chain of transmission. The aggressive and ruthless measures include geographic quarantine, social distancing, enhanced surveillance, testing and isolation of all suspected cases, quarantine of contacts and risk communication to create awareness among public on preventive public health measures.

The document also asks state and district agencies to enhance passive surveillance in the entire area under quarantine. There were a total number of 4, 778 out of which 4, 281 are active cases registered in India. Out of that 136 deaths registered and 361 have been discharged. According to the Union Health Ministry sources, the Covid- 19 infects 76 % male and 24 % female.
