CM Jagan inaugurates Orvakallu Airport

Orvakallu: CM Jaganmohan Reddy inaugurated the Orvakallu Airport in Kurnool district, which was built by the state government. CM Jagan inaugurated the airport and dedicated it to the nation. First the national flag was unveiled by CM Jagan and then the statue of the late CM YS Rajashekar Reddy. Along with AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Union Minister P Hardeep Singh was also present at the inauguration of Orvakallu Airport.

Speaking at the inaugural function, CM Jagan said that travel to Kurnool would be by road and rail and from now on air travel would also be possible. Orvakallu said flights from the airport would start from the 28th of this month.

Initially, flights will be available to Bangalore, Chennai and Visakhapatnam. It is said that the sixth airport in the state is about to open with Orvakallu. CM Jagan said the previous government had rushed to cut the ribbon before the elections, spending Rs 110 crore and completing the work in just over a year.

Advanced firefighting will also be available, he said, adding that Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy came from this lump. CM Jagan announced the name of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy for Orvakallu Airport.

The DGCA issued the license on January 15 this year to start the flight services. The BCAS security clearance was granted on January 27. The 2,000 m long and 30 m wide runway was developed.

All types of infrastructure were provided along with parking for the four aircraft.Indigo will operate services from Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Bangalore and Kurnool from the 28th of this month. The airport was completed on 1,008 acres at a cost of Rs 153 crore.
