New Delhi: The Covid- 19 outbreak in India touched the number of fresh cases going past 800 for the first time on Friday in the wake of a big spike in Delhi. In Delhi reported 183 new infections, as well as surging numbers in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

The total Covid- 19 cases in the country reached 7, 500 while the death toll rose to 258, with 26 causalities reported from various states on Friday. As many as 859 fresh cases were confirmed by states, cross Thursday’s record high of 787 cases. In Delhi doubled new cases as compared to the previous highest of 93 recorded on Wednesday, with 84% (154) of these coming from Tableeghi Jamaat members put under quarantine after being evacuated from the organization’s Nizamuddin Head Quarters.

Delhi also recorded two deaths taking its causalities count 14. Mumbai became the first Indian city to record 1000 Covid- 19 cases, with 132 new cases and 10 deaths reported on Friday. Mumbai’s overall case tally stood at 1, 008 and causalities to 64. Gujarat 116 and Rajasthan 98 also saw their highest single day record of Covid- 19 cases.
