New Delhi: Covid- 19 outbreak in the country during the 24 hours as many 78 persons tested +ve in Mumbai, and the national count of new cases on Thursday to 1755, the highest single day surge so far.

The Covid- 19 outbreak in Maharashtra, by far the worst affected state in the country turned grimmer on Thursday. The total Covid- 19 outbreak cases in India has jumped from 21, 258 on Wednesday to 23, 113 cases. The staggering spike in Maharashtra was not just the highest reported by a state in a day, beating its own previous record of 552.

The city Mumbai too recorded its biggest rise in cases at 522. The Gujarat too continues to report high numbers of 217 new cases, Madhya Pradesh record a surge of infections late on Thursday after a relative lull in the past in the few days, with 184 cases. Delhi also recorded 128 more new cases in one day across the city. The Covid- 19 deaths toll has been gradually rising on Thursday only 43 deaths were reported from across the country, a majority of these from Maharashtra (14), Gujarat (09), Madhya Pradesh (05) and Uttar Pradesh (04).

After a month, Maharashtra total Covid- 19 cases tally stood at 6427 on Thursday and deaths recorded 283.  Total number of cases in Maharashtra state 4206 alone in Mumbai city.
