Covid- 19 tally 1.85 L: India reached 8th place among the worst hit country

New Delhi: Covid- 19 cases in India recorded a highest ever jump tally with 8, 327 cases being reported in one day. With a total of 185061 cases reported till late on Sunday in the country zoomed past Germany (183426 cases) in total Covid- 19 case load to climb to the 8th place among countries worst hit by the virus.

If present trends continue, the India will displace France (1.88 lakh cases) to occupy 7th position in next 24 hours, deaths from the virus steadily rising as well. States reported 224 Covid- 19 related deaths on Sunday, the second highest single day number so far after 270 deaths on Friday. The death tally climbed 2K in the past 12 days, the total country’s death toll reaches         5, 404.nearly 48K fresh cases have been detected in the past week alone, accounting for more than a quarter of all infections reported since the first +ve case emerged on January 30th.

Sunday’s tally of highest Covid- 19 cases 8, 237 as fresh cases in worst hit Maharashtra (2, 487) decreased by nearly 450 from previous day’s count. Atleast five states including Delhi (1, 295), Tamil Nadu (1, 149), Uttar Pradesh (378), West Bengal (371), Karnataka (299) and Telangana (199) recorded highest jump in infections in a day. On the +ve side, the number of people who have recovered from the infection has crossed 90K.
