Public health infra to be focus in second term: Modi on first anniversary

New Delhi: The Government will focus on improving public health infrastructure in the forth coming days, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday marked the completion of the first year in his second tenure.

Health care will assume even greater importance in the country. We in India have been working to create a system where the poor have access to top quality and affordable health care, he said. The comment comes at time when the Covid- 19 pandemic has put the spotlight on the need to improve and expand health care and make it more accessible. The first anniversary of Modi 2.0 saw the BJP launching a blitz around importance decisions taken by the Government since the Modi secured a bigger mandate for the party in May 2019.

Modi used the occasion to amplify his call for self- reliance, Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Prime Minister shared on his app the chapter Atma Nirbhar agriculture from Vikas Yatra a compilation of the measures taken by the Government. India is extremely proud of our farmers, he said. They work day and night to feed the nation. We are energizing the agriculture sector with reforms and measures that improve the lives of farmers, ensure better markets and eliminate the role of middle men, said Modi referring to the decisions taken in the wake of pandemic to give farmers more freedom in marketing of their produce.

Perusing his theme of Atma Nirbhar, Modi emphasized the need the country be self-reliance for its defence needs. Being self-reliance in the defence sector it need of the hour. Here is a perspective on how India is doing it. The hint about his intent to improve public health care is part of the “Jaan Hai To Jehan Hai” chapter of Vikas Yatra. The Modi Government has launched Ayushman Bharat to fund the treatment of under privileged and has expanded the price regulation to cover more medicines and medical devices, in the six years spanning of his two terms.
