CWC Demands Withdrawal of CAA, NPR: Sonia

New Delhi: The Congress working committee demanded the central government to withdrawn the CAA and stop the process of NPR. The Congress party convened a special session of the congress working committee on Saturday and terming the CAA as a “discriminatory” and “Divisive law”.

The Congress party also demanded to constitute a high powered commission to enquire in to incidents connected with the anti-CAA protest. The opposition party extended its supports behind the agitating students of university across the country, the party chief Sonia Gandhi said the police excesses in many parts of UP and universities like JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia and AMU.

As the students protest gains momentum, it is clear that the government is digging in its heels said Sonia Gandhi in a special session of Congress Working Committee. The sinister purpose of the law is clear to every patriotic, tolerant and secular Indian.  It is to divide the Indian people on religious lines said Sonia.

She was inspired by the Struggle of the students who have taken to the streets and saluted their courage even as she condemned the use of brute force by the police, she said.  The CWC passed a resolution that every worker of the party would work alongside India’s youth and the students in their endeavour to defend the constitution, soon after the speech of Sonia. It also discussed the report submitted by a Congress fact finding committee on the incidents of JNU.
