Vijayawada: The AP CID in its preliminary enquiry reveals that former AP, SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh’s letter to Union Home Ministry has revealed that attempts to damage the evidence were made.

The pendrive used for transferring files were smashed, the desktop was formatted and files deleted, said AP CID Chief P.V. Sunil Kumar. On the complaint of MP Vijay Sai Reddy the CID conducted enquiry on the allegations against the former SEC’s letter to MHA was not sent from his office. MP also raised suspicion regarding his signature. We initiated an enquiry into the matter and also spoke to the SEC Assistant Secretary K. Samba Murthy on the issue, he said.

According to the Samba Murthy information to the CID, that former SEC Ramesh dictated a five page letter to him soon after the Supreme Court judgement. The letter was typed on the laptop and transferred to the desktop via a pendrive. Following this, it was transferred to the Ramesh’s phone via Whatsapp and he may have sent it to MHA through his personal E-mail I.D, he said. To verify the facts the CID officials had asked for the laptop, desktop and pendrive. To our utter surprise, Samba Murthy told us that the letter on the laptop was also deleted.

The hard disk of the desktop has been formatted and new operating system has been installed. The pendrive has been physically smashed, said Sunil Kumar. The investigating agency has seized the devices for Forensic examination and retrieving the data, he said.
