Hyderabad: In an attempt to escape from the Police, Fake MBBS doctor Y S Teja Alias Avinash Reddy and his father denied their relationship when brought in for questioning, said police officials.

In fact, Teja father Veera Gandham Venkata Rao, claimed his son was a distant relative who’s activities he wasn’t even aware of.

Teja was nabbed last week for conning several people, including police officers, government officials and businessmen, by posing as a doctor. As part of his most recent ‘act’, he was treating policemen for Covid-19 at the Racha Konda commissionarate for six months, claiming to be an experienced medical practitioner.

His father is also an accused in the case as he helped Teja connect with a broker in 2012, when the latter wanted a 10^th class certificate to become a driver. On realizing he could buy degrees, Teja later decided to get himself a MBBS certificate.
