New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benarjee said that there should be a Supreme Court monitored probe into the Pegasus scandal involving opposition leaders, two union ministers and 40 journalists revealed as potential targets of surveillance using Israeli Pegasus spyware that is sold only to governments.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benarjee was called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday at his residence in New Delhi. This is her first meeting with Narendra Modi after the fiery fight in the assembly elections in 2021. After the meeting with the PM, Mamatha speaking to the media persons said that she met Prime Minister first time at courtesy, after she assumed as the Chief Minister of the state for third time.

Mamatha Benarjee on Monday announced a judiciary enquiry led by former Supreme Court Judges on the Pegasus scandal, to investigate reports that many Bengal leaders were targeted. She also said that she had discussed about the Covid situation in the state, the supply of medicine and vaccines in the state. She put a proposal before the Prime Minister to rename the state Bengal as “Bangla”.

Mamatha Benarjee will meet AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi at 04:30pm on Wednesday, as a part of in her three day visit to Delhi is having with full political assignments to meet the opposition leaders. She is going to meet the Delhi Chief Minister Aap Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday. She also met senior congress leaders Kamal Nath, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and others. She has a view to meet SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, Javed Akthar and Shabana Azmi.
