
Jagan Inaugurated First “Disha Police Station” at Rajahmundry
Rajahmundry: The Andhra Pradesh government launched first Disha police station at Rajahmundry on Saturday. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the Disha police station and also launched Disha app.
The Andhra Pradesh government brought “Disha Act” to prevent atrocities on women and children in the state. Speaking on the occasion AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that “Disha Act” is the first of its kind in India, which calls for an entire investigation to finish within a week and a trial within a fortnight, after that on the basis of conclusive evidence. The judgement will come up in 21 days, he said.
The AP government is going to establish 18 Disha Police Stations in the 13 districts of the state, and also establishing three forensic labs at Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati, he said. In each police station two DSP level officers, five Inspectors, 10 head constables and 29 constables were allotted he said. The government also requested the High Court to establish special Disha Courts in all 13 districts, and also released funds for the courts, said Jagan. After obtaining the permission from the High Court the special courts also starts functioning, he added.
The AP Chief Secretary Neelam Sahani, DGP Gowtham Sawang, Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita, Kakinada MP Vanga Geetha, Rajahmundry MP Bharat, MLAs Roja, Undavalli Sri Devi, Jonnagadda Padmavathi, Minister Taaneti Vanitha and other public representatives participated.
