Washington: Democratic Presenditial nominee Joe Biden has said his administration will rescind the Trump administration’s ban on the H1B visas on day one his Presidency. Biden also said Bolstering ties with the New Delhi, a “Natural Partner”, will be a high priority for his administration, disquiet on India’s actions in Kashmir and the citizenship issue.

The Democratic candidates position on foreign relations and immigration were spelled out at two virtual events and on his website over the past week as he began a more public articulation of sharply divergent position from President Trump on several issues. Trump ended H1B visas for the rest of this year. That will not be in my administration, said Biden during an event with Asian- American and Pacific Islander Community last week, according to a transcript released by the APIA vote.

Biden also said on day one of his administration, he would send an immigration reform bill that has already been drafted to Congress that would provide a road map to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants, protect dreamers, including the more than one lakh eligible dreamers from East and South Asia, and streamline the naturalization process to make easier for qualified green card holders to move through the back log. More than five lakh people of Indian origin are stuck in an immigration quagmire that pre-dates the Trump Presidency, going back to Obama, Bush, and Clinton years.

At a separate fund raiser on Wednesday, Biden said strengthening ties with India would be priority for his administration as he recalled his role in securing congregational approval for the US- India Civil Nuclear deal. India needs to be a partner in the region for our safety’s sake and quite frankly for theirs. That partnership, a strategic partnership, is necessary and important in our society, he said. Biden’s India pitch came despite criticism on his platform over its actions in Kashmir.

Indian Government should take all necessary steps to restore rights for all the people of Kashmir, he said in comments published on his website. Biden and Trump also differ sharply on immigration. On his campaign website, Biden makes a strong case for more high skilled immigration, including exempting from any cap recent graduates of Ph.D programs in STEM fields in the US. He believes that foreign graduates of a US Doctorial Program should be given a green card with their degree and that losing these highly trained workers to foreign economies is a dis- service to our own economic competitiveness, the campaign website says, echoing the demand of several tech CEOs, including Bill Gates.

The Britain platform also pledges that the Presidential nominee will support expanding the member of high skilled visas and enlightening the limit on employment based visas.
