Kerala, Karnataka and Rajasthan go for lockdown

New Delhi: The increase of Covid-19 surge in the country forced some states to go for lockdown. Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh state governments imposed a lockdown in their states for 10 days to 15 days.

Kerala government announced a rigorous nine-day complete lockdown from Saturday to May 16, as it recorded its highest single day spike of 42,464 infections and 63 deaths. Kerala state accounted for over 10% of the Covid-19 infections nation’s tally.

The Karnataka government announced two weeks lockdown from Monday onwards with strict Covid-19 rules. The government issued guidelines on lockdown; the lockdown will be imposed on 06:00 am on Monday upto 06:00 am of May 25th. During the lockdown period the all essential services and kirana shops and other household goods shops will be open.

The court ordered the Delhi government to provide medical treatment to all people suffering from Covid-19 in the city, which saw an addition of 19,133 new cases and 335 deaths. It got over 730 MT oxygen for the first time. Rajasthan, too, opted for a complete lockdown from May 10 to May 24 to flatten the curve. After almost a week of reporting less than 60,000 cases, Maharashtra’s tally increased by 62,194.
