Large Crowds Gathered on the Roads against Ban on the Vigil of Protest

Hong Kong: Thousands of people came on to the roads despite the ban protest orders of the police on Thursday. The people of Hong Kong thrown away the barricades to hold a candle light vigil on the 31st anniversary of China’s crushing of democracy movement centered on Beijing’s Tiananmen Square.

The authorities banned the annual vessel to remember victims of the 1989, crack down, first time. The china government is taking a tougher stands following months of anti government protest last year, in what activists see as an accelerating erosion of the cities rights and liberties. Despite ban on the vigil, crowds poured into Victoria Park to light candles and observed a minute of silence.

Many changed “Democracy now” and also “Stand for Freedom, Stand with Hong Kong”. The Hong Kong legislature passed a law making it a crime to disrespect China’s national anthem after the pro-democracy law maker’s disrupted proceedings twice to try to prevent the boat, earlier on Thursday. Law makers approved the bill with 41 in favour and one against, but the 75 seat chamber’s pro-democracy faction refused to vote and instead shouted slogans denouncing the law.
