Lok Sabha adjourned amidst protests of YSRCP MPs and other party MPs

New Delhi: YSRCP MPs staged protests in both houses of Parliament on Tuesday by displaying placards and shouting slogans to do justice to Andhra Pradesh.

The YSRCP Chief Whip in Lok Sabha M Bharat gave a notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on the issue of Polavaram National Project as per the revised estimates under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, Special Status to AP and the privatization of Vizag Steel Plant.

The YSRCP Parliamentary party leader Vijayasai Reddy gave a notice Rajya Sabha Chairman under Section 267 on the Special Status to Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha for the consecutive day. He along with YSRCP MPs and other party MPs stage a protest with placards shouting slogans in Rajya Sabha well.

The joint sittings of Parliament came to a standstill on the issues of special status for Andhra Pradesh, release of funds for Polavaram project and conservation of Visakhapatnam steel plant. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were overwhelmed by the concerns of the party MPs.

Both the houses in the Parliament were stalled till noon. The YSRCP MPs has demanded that the Center give investment clearance to the Polavaram National Project as per the revised estimates under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act and adjourn the House to discuss the issue.

As the morning session began, all the party MPs, led by party Lok Sabha leader PV Mithun Reddy, stormed into the well and displayed placards and chanted slogans, insisting on a debate on the issue.

The placards demanded that Andhra Pradesh be given special status, funds be released for the Polavaram project; stop the privatization of the Visakhapatnam steel plant. Congress, TMC and other parties have raised concerns, demanding an inquiry into the Pegasus controversy.

The Speaker announced that the House would be adjourned till 2 pm just four minutes after the commencement. When the meeting resumed, the YSRCP MPs rushed into the well and chanted slogans. He accused Andhra Pradesh of enforcing the laws and doing justice.

The Speaker announced that the House was adjourned for 8 minutes as they continued to raise concerns despite repeated appeals. As the House resumed at 3 pm, YSRCP MPs disrupted proceedings by displaying placards and chanting slogans. The Lok Sabha lasted for 14 minutes on Tuesday.
