ESI Director Devika Rani and Six Sent to Jail: ACB Court

Hyderabad: Telangana ACB Court on Friday remanded seven ESI officers on ESI Medical Scam. The ESI director of IMS in Warangal Dr. CH. Devika Rani, joint director Padma, Assistant Director Vasantha Indira, Shamshabad ESI Dispencery Pharmacists Grade-II  M. Radhika, Senior Assistant V. Harshavardhan, Omni Medi Managing Director K. Sri Hari Babu and Company Representative CH. Siva Naga Raju were sent to judicial custody.

      The ACB officials conducted searches on Friday on the houses and offices of the above officers and their relatives nearly 21 members on Friday. The ACB officials booked a case on financial irregularities in purchasing medicines through special drug dispensing unit instead of by rate contract, in 2017-18. ACB officer seized key documents related to the indents and other transactions from the residences of the seven persons.

        The ACB find Rs. 10 crore fraud in five indents only so far. As per the ACB sources they have to investigate nearly 200 indents, which are related to the irregularities. The ACB filed a petition in the court on Friday for the custody of ESI director and other officials for one week. The petition will come hearing on Monday in the court.
