Bengaluru: Heavy rains hitted the Western and Southern states of the country since ten days, caused a huge damage to the properties, crops and nearly 186 died.

  The heavy rains in Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala states are badly damaged. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the flood affected areas in Karnataka and Kerala states on Sunday through ariel survey. The Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa urged the Central Government to provide financial assistance Rs.40, 000 crores for the rehabilitation works. Nearly Rs.30, 000 crores for crops in the state damaged due to the floods and submerged crops in the waters, said the C.M. Due to the heavy rains and floods nearly 40 persons died in the state. Due to the Tungabhadra river heavy floods the historical city of Hampi also affected. The Government rescued the pilgrims from the floods on Sunday. Nearly 1.4 lakhs people were shifted to the rehabilitation centre.

   Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis monitoring flood situation in state since ten days. Kolhapur districts and Sangli districts are badly damaged due to the heavy rains. Many villages submerged in the two districts and some roads washed away. Nearly 2.4 lakhs people are shifted to rescue homes and rehabilitation centres.

  Kerala state severely damaged due to the heavy rains and floods. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan monitoring the flood situation and rehabilitation works. Nearly 89 persons died in the floods and falling of landslides in the state. Wayanad, Mallapur, Kozhikode, Alappuzha and Trivandrum districts badly damaged in the floods. Nearly 3.5 lakhs people shifted to the rehabilitation centres in the states. Nearly 1, 500 rehabilitation centres are operating, said the officials.

Wayanad MP, former AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi visited the flood affected areas on Sunday. He stayed in his Constituency and monitoring the rehabilitation works. He also interacting with the flood affected people in his constituency. He also visited the neighbouring district Mallapur also. He urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide financial assistance to the flood affected areas liberally.
