New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley {66} passes away has on Saturday at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi. He was admitted in the hospital due to the respiratory problems and undergoing treatment.

  Arun Jaitley survived with wife Sangeetha and son Rohan and daughter. Arun Jaitley graduated from Sri Ram Degree College and he took law degree from Delhi University. He practiced as a lawyer in Supreme Court and various states high courts. He went to jail in the emergency period for 19 months. After the lift of emergency he joined Jana Sung. He served BJP from 1990 to 2019 in various positions. He was appointed as additional Solicitor General to the Government in V.P. Singh Government. From 1999 to 2004 he worked as official spokesperson of BJP.

   He discharges his duties as Information and Broadcasting Minister in the Vajpayee’s Government. He represented as a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat since 2000 to 2018. He was the BJP party leader in Rajya Sabha from 2004 to 2014 and from 2014 to 2019 he was the leader of the house in Rajya Sabha. He served as Finance Minister and Defense Minister in Narendra Modi’s Government from 2014 to 2019. He introduced reforms like demonetization and GST. 

   The veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley brought to hospital on August 9^th and had put on life support. He was being monitored by a team of doctors. Arun Jaitley is lawyer by profession and worked as Finance Minister in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government in first term. President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister and BJP Chief Amit Shah, Mayawati, Jyothiraditya Scindia, Nitish Kumar and Yogi Aditya Nath visited Arun Jaitley in AIIMS hospital.

   AIIMS in a statement said that “It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Shri Arun Jaitley. Honourable Member of Parliament and former Finance Minister, Government of India at 12.07 pm on August, 2019. Shri Arun Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi on 09/08/2019 and was treated by multidisciplinary team of senior doctors”.
