KCR dedicated Kaleshwaram project to the people

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao dedicated the world’s largest lift irrigation project ‘Kaleshwaram’ to the people on Friday. He inaugurated the project after performing a yagam at Medigadda reservoir.   

   Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended as Chief Guests and Telangana and Maharashtra Governor’s
E.S.L. Narashiman, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao grace the occasion. The state Government has completed the mega project at a cost of Rs, 80, 196 crores within in three years.  

  This project provides water for irrigation to 37.08 lakh acres and water to stabilize about 18.82 lakh acres of aycut under the existing projects of Sri Ram Sagar, Nizam Sagar and Midmanair. The state Government has claimed that the project is expected to supply water to 70% of the Telangana districts. The project is also expected to cater to the drinking water needs from Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao inaugurated the pump-no: 6 at Medigadda reservoir on Friday. The yagam will take place at Kannepalli reservoir from 8.30 a.m to 11.00 a.m. After the inauguration of the pumps the Telangana Government will facilitate the bankers, who provided financial assistance to the project. The Telangana C.M K.C.R unveiled a Phylon at Medigadda reservoir along with A.P and Maharashtra C.M’s. KCR performs pooja to river Godavari by offering Pattu Vastras,  Kumkum and turmeric. A.P CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled a stone contain the details of inauguration at Kannepalli. The Srungeripetam seers performed Varuna Yagam with 40 veda pundits for heavy rains to the Godavari river to store more water in the reservoir.
