SR Basavaraju unanimously elected as new Chief Minister of Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister SR Basavaraju was elected as the new Chief Minister, as the successor of the former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. The BJP Legislature party unanimously elected SR Basavaraju as the new Chief Minister on Tuesday, in the BJLP meeting held in a private hotel in Bengaluru.

SR Basavaraju’s father late SR Bommai served as the 11th Chief Minister of Karnataka. Basavaraju started his political career with Janata Dal and he elected to MLC for two times in 1998 and in 2004. Later he joined in BJP in 2008 and he became key leader in the party.

He was elected three times as MLA from Shiggaon Constituency. The Central observers Dharmendra Prasad and Cultural Affairs Minister G Kishan Reddy attended the BJLP meeting. SR Basavaraju may likely swear as Chief Minister of Karnataka within two days.
