Students police clash against CAA in Delhi: violent protests in N.E states

New Delhi: The Delhi police used tear gas and lathi charge on the students of JMU and public in the posh area of South Delhi on Sunday. The students of Jamia Millia University staged protests at the posh area of South Delhi, the police and students were clashed.

    The students pelted stones on police and set fire some vehicles on Sunday, against the CAA. The police used tear gas and lathi charge to disperse the mob and students. The students blocked the road leads to Delhi to Madhura. The police blocked the opposite way which proceeds to Vihar Hotel and not allowed any vehicles in this route. The police diverted the vehicular traffic in another way.

    The protests against the CAA will continue in Northeastern states. The Government lifted curfew on Saturday night. The protesters took agitation on Sunday also. The roads and rail services are stalled. Two persons shot dead on Sunday in police firing, the bodies brought to the Guwahati Medical College.

    In West Bengal the Citizenship Amendment Act protest rocked on second consecutive day on Saturday also. The protesters set a blaze of a number of trains, railway stations and tracks, buses and damaged Government properties. The protesters damaged railway properties in Murshidapur in Howrah districts bore the brunt of their ire. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Benerjee appealed the protesters for peace, while the opposition BJP threatened to move the centre for imposition of President’s rule if the “Mayhem by Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators continued”.  

    At Krishanpur railway station in Murshidapur district the protesters set fire ten empty trains, besides railway tracks at Lalgola station. The protesters set fire to ticket counter at Sankrail railway station in Howrah district, damaged the signaling system. Chief Minister Mamatha Benerjee warned a strict action amid violent agitation and vandalism in several places across the state. She also appealed do not take law in your hand, do not put up road blockades and rail blockades and creating trouble for common people on the roads, said in a press release. The Government stopped internet services in ten districts of West Bengal on Sunday.

   Meghalaya and Assam states are also staging protest against the CAA. There also registered the violent incidents. The AGP party decided to file a petition on CAA in Supreme Court. AGP is an ally party of BJP led Government in Assam. The AGP supported the bill in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The party senior leaders were quitting the party against the CAA.
