Tirupati: AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy categorically stressed the need of Special Category Status to AP as promised by the then Union Government at the time of passing the State Re-organization Bill in the parliament.

Speaking at the Southern Zonal Council Meeting YS Jagan brought State facing problems due to Bifurcation of the State to the notice of Union Home Minister Amit Shah who chaired the meeting. AP has suffered severely with the partition. Seven years after the partition of the state, the guarantees have not been implemented. All the problems remain unresolved, he said.

Problems between states must be resolved within a specified time. A special committee should be set up for this. Jagan said, the state has been treated unfairly with the 2013–14 price indexes in determining the cost of the Polavaram project.

This is a violation of the AP Re-organization Act. The resource gap has not been filled either. The special status guarantee was not fulfilled. Give electricity arrears from Telangana. Soak up the AP disks that are in serious trouble, he said.

There was also no distribution of assets between AP and Telangana States. Debts that exceeded the limit in the previous Government are now being slashed. Intervene immediately on this. There is no rationality in the Central Government process for the identification of ration‌ beneficiaries in the states. Corrections should be made immediately, he said.

During the passage of the State Re-organization Bill-2014 in Parliament, several assurances were given to Andhra Pradesh, but did not fulfill them. Seven years after the partition of the state, many guarantees have not been implemented and Andhra Pradesh is facing many problems besides financial losses.

The division of the State took place with that guarantee and provision of Special Category Status for the State. But as the years go by, that crucial promise is still unfulfilled.

According to Schedule 8 of the AP Re-organization Act, in addition to completing 8 infrastructure projects, 11 national priority companies are to be set up in full by 2024. Special Development Package for the backward districts as given in Bundelkhand has not been fully implemented. Most have implemented it sparingly.
