New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the BJP and its allice would contest the assembly polls in Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister and JD (U) Chief Nitish Kumar and garner 2/3rd majority.

Amit Shah launched a first ever virtual rally after lockdown on Sunday. He clarified that at the beginning of his speech that the rally was not the launch of the party’s poll campaign but a bid to connect with people in a hour of crises. The virtual rally has set the stage for the campaign for Bihar polls, due later this year, he said.

There were indications in the rally that the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic by the center and the state government would be one of the dominant themes. There are elections in Bihar in the coming days, I believe that under Nitish Kumar Ji’s leadership, he said.

NDA will form the government with 2/3rd majorities, he added. The event was one of the 75 virtual meetings that the party has organized for ‘Jan Samvadh’ (Public Dialogue) after completion of the Modi government first year. This was the evidence from the angry response Shah’s engagement drew from RJD who’s workers clanged steel “Thalis” to accused BJP of neglecting poor.

He took a dig of RJD by saying it was good that they were finally following what Prime Minister had exhorted them to do, to clap and clang Thalis, to boost the morale of doctors and other health professionals as well as police, who have been on the front-line in the fight against the virus. Amit Shah hailed the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Modi on several occasions for handling the Covid-19 crises and transforming the states from the “Lantern” era to “LED” a dig at the RJD’s poll symbol.
