Non-Resident West Bengalis Open Letter to Mamatha on Covid-19 Tests

Kolkata: A group of Non-Bengali doctors, health scientists and health care providers urged the Chief Minister Mamatha Benarjee to increase the testing pool of Covid-19 in the state. They wrote a letter to her raising concern over alleged mis-reporting of Covid-19. They urged the CM in a open letter to look at the situation in a more realistic way said doctor N. Basu.

They also stressed that the number of truly affected cases depended on the extent of testing, the accuracy of test results and frequency and scare of testing of asymptomatic cases who may have been exposed. They also said in the letter underestimation in the number truly affected cases may have potentially dangerous consequences.

The day after letter came to Mamatha Benarjee; she accused the union government of supplying faulty and an inadequate number of testing kits. She also said the spreading of funny rumors every day that only a few are getting tested in Bengal for Covid-19. This is absolutely false, Mamatha has alleged.
