North East Delhi is returning to normal: 514 suspects arrested: S.N. Srivatsava

New Delhi: The death toll in North East Delhi’s riots climbed to 38 on Thursday. According to the Home Ministry sources, there was no major incident in the last 36 hours in the Delhi’s North East district, where the violence erupted areas.

The police arrested 514 suspects and further arrests would be made in the course of investigation. The prohibitory orders under Section-144 CRPC will be relaxed for a total of ten hours on Friday in view of improvement in the situation. Nearly 200 injured are undergoing treatment at the GTB hospital in the Dilshad Garden. The people are waiting outside the mortuary to claim the bodies of their family members, recorded five more deaths. The Special Police Commissioner S.N. Srivatsava said to the media persons on Thursday that the situation is returning to normal.

We are here to reassume people that we are with them. Battled scarred and disolate with scorched, blackened walls, the ashen remains of vehicles, glass shards and bricks, several files still burnt in the mostly mixed neighbourhood of North East Delhi. The shops, pharmacists and other establishments were closed and people stayed indoors unless it was imperative to step out.
