Oppose CAA and NRC: Pinarayi urged non –BJP CM’s

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan urged the Chief Ministers of 11 states of non-BJP to oppose the CAA and NRC on Friday. He appealed the 11 Chief Ministers to consider passing resolutions in their respective State Assemblies demanding the repeal of the Act.

 

In his letter Mr. Vijayan mentioned that Kerala Assembly passed a resolution urging the repeal of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to the Chief Ministers of 11 states. He urged the others states which are in opinion to repeal the CAA and NRC repeal can follow the similar steps and it will be eye-opener to the proponents of the CAA and NRC. CAA created widespread apprehensions among a large section of society across the country, he added.

People from a cross-section of society irrespective of any differences need of the hour is unity among all the Indians who wish to protect and preserved our cherished values of the Democracy and Secularism, he said.

The letter written was sent to the Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
