The RCLP meeting passed a resolution to sack Sachin Pilot from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and initiate disciplinary action on him and his supporting MLAs, who do not attend the Monday’s, and Tuesday’s RCLP meetings.

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and his 16 MLAs were not attend the Tuesday’s CLP meeting also. He is demanding the Chief Minister Gehlot’s removal from the post. The Congress high commands are trying to balancing the two groups Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, and also not favour the demand of Sachin Pilot to remove the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Ahead of the meeting, Congress general secretary Avinash Pandey made another bid to reach out to the rebel leader, who had skipped the first CLP meeting at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s home on Monday. Eighteen other Congress MLAs had also not attended Monday’s meeting, according to sources. But independents and MLAs from other parties participated, expressing support for Gehlot.

Tuesday’s meeting was said to be a second chance for Pilot, who is also the president of the state unit of the party. But MLAs considered close to Pilot were again not seen there, and are calling for a floor test in the 200-member state assembly.

Srimadhopar MLA Deepender Singh Shekhawat, who was Speaker in the assembly during the term of the previous Congress government, came out in the open Tuesday with the demand.

Mr Gehlot’s numbers have been eroded by his deputy’s revolt. The Chief Minister had invited all 107 Congress MLAs and 15 others – independents and allies. Party leaders said 106 of these 122 MLAs attended. However, the Chief Minister’s numbers may be barely above the majority mark of 101 in the 200-member assembly.

In the 200-member assembly, the Congress had 107 MLAs and the support of 13 independents and five from smaller parties. That number has now come down to 90 Congress MLAs, seven independent members and five from smaller parties – 101.

One ally, Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP), which has two MLAs in the Rajasthan assembly, withdrew support from the Congress and asked its members to stay neutral and not align either with Mr Gehlot or Mr Pilot. But there were indications that the MLAs were inclined towards joining the Congress.
