Rana Kapoor sent to ED custody till March 11th

Mumbai: Session Judge S.R. Salunkhe remanded Yes Bank Co-founder Rana Kapoor in ED’s custody until March 11th, who was holding charge of the Holiday Court. The ED officials arrested Yes Bank Co-founder Rana Kapoor on Sunday at Worli residence. The ED produced Rana Kapoor in Court on Sunday.

While seeking his custody the authority argued that the agency wants to probe the role of a few companies run by Kapoor family members, as they suspect their involvement, too. The ED also said to the Court that they want to question these members along with the accused. The ED investigating into a web of shell firms Kapoor had allegedly floated to launder the money with the officials also unearthing the investments to the tune of atleast Rs 2, 000 crores into assets and 44 expensive paintings.

The ED anticipated that the family might leave for London after they found some documents showing their investments there. As per the sources, Yes Bank Co-founder Rana Kapoor’s daughter stopped at the airport on Sunday from taking a flight to London as she is required to join the probe in a money laundering case against her father. The sources said Roshini Kapoor was disallowed to board the flight from Mumbai airport on the basis of a lookout circular issued against her by the ED, which anticipated that the family might leave for London.
