Hyderabad: Hundreds of protestors vandalized and set on fire a few coaches at Secunderabad railway station on Friday morning had caused heavy property damage. Division railway manager AK Gupta said that Rs 12 crore losses were incurred due to the violent protests that took place in Secunderabad railway station.

30 AC and 47 non-Ac compartments and five rail engines were damaged partially while CCTV cameras, TVs, shops, parcels, escalators, fans, digital boards on the platform were totally damaged. Even the luggage of passengers was damaged. He said that railway signal system was not damaged and trains were restored from Friday night.

Heavy damage might have caused if the power car catches fire as it has 3,000 litres diesel, said the officials.
