MMTS- Intercity collided: 30 seriously injured

Hyderabad: Nearly 30 passengers were injured in a train accident; two trains coming opposite directions collided at Kachiguda railway station on Monday at 11.30 am. The Handri Intercity Express coming from Kurnool to Kachiguda enters the fourth track and stationed at the platform.

   The Lingampally to Falaknuma MMTS which has to go in second track, unimaginable entered into fourth track and hitted the stationed Handri Intercity Express. Three coaches of MMTS were severely damaged including the engine and other six coaches derailed. The MMTS driver Shekar was severely injured and he was stuck at the engine. The railway authorities providing medical treatment to the driver and trying to bring him out from the engine. The GHMC-NDRF and SDRF staffs are continuously operating the rescue works from 11.30 am onwards. Finally they came to a conclusion to remove the engine parts with gas cutters to save the driver Shekar.

   The severely injured passengers were shifted for treatment to the Osmania Hospital. The railway authorities appointed a committee to enquire the incident. After the committee’s report they will initiate the action, said the sources.

   The Telangana Governor Tamilisai directed the Osmania doctors to provide the better treatment to the injured passengers.
