Warangal: A Heart-Burnt incident of a rape and murder of nine months infant occurred in Hanmakonda at Warangal Dist. The accused Kolipaka Praveen (28) climed up the stairs and abducted the baby when she was sleeping with her parents and grandparents on the terrace and took her to a secluded location. The police took the accused into custody.

        According to the Warangal Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder, the child Srihitha was sleeping with her parents and grandparents on the terrace of their house. The accused climed up the stairs and abducted the baby. He took her to a secluded location, two streets away and sexually assaulted her, when she cried in pain, he gagged her.

       The parents of the baby who woke up at about 02:30am found the baby was missed. Their raised an alarm and started searching for the baby. The neighbours also joined in the search along with parents and finally the baby found by her maternal uncle Bharat with the assailant. After seeing Bharat the assailant Praveen started running and threw the baby on to the road.

        Bharat chased and caught hold of Praveen to the help of others they beat him up and handed over to the police. The baby was taken to a hospital in the Hanmakonda, at the time the baby was alive in unconscious. The doctors tried to save her but invain. Later doctors pronounced that the baby was dead and shifted to MGM hospital mortuary for post-motem.

      A case has been registered under sections of 366, 302,376(a), 376(ab), 379 and sec 5(m) of the IPC, read with section of the POCSO act.
