Telangana High Court stopped release of Sye Raa

Hyderabad: Tollywood veteran actor, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s dream film “Sye Raa Narashima Reddy” release which was scheduled worldwide on October 2nd, 2019 stopped by the High Court of Telangana.

   The Telangana High Court issued directions to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) not to issue a censor certificate to the biopic of “Sye Raa Narashima Reddy”.

    The family members and legal heirs of freedom fighters Uyyalawada Narashima Reddy filed a petition alleging that producers of the film failed to keep the promises made to provide all regal (loyalty) claims for use of their family history, house and the other articles for the film before the release of its trailer. Doravari Dastagiri Reddy and others residence from Uyyalawada from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh filed this petition. The film producers verbally promised them to provide loyalty fixed at 10% of the film’s cost which reported estimation cost of the film being Rs. 200 crores, works of Rs. 20 crores.

    But the film makers gave only Rs. 25, 000 for travel expenses. The petitioners filed the State Home Principal Secretary, the Chairperson to CBFC, producer Ram Charan, and Director P. Surender Reddy, Actors Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan and others as respondents in the petition.
