TMC MLA Tamonash Ghosh (60) died due to Covid- 19

West Bengal: Falta Assembly constituency MLA Tamonash Ghosh (60) died on Wednesday of Covid- 19. He is the treasurer of TMC and active member and a three term MLA. He is the first political personality in Bengal to die of Covid- 19.

His health deteriorated due to possible comorbid conditions in the last few days. He has been on medication for more than a month. Tamonash Ghosh had tested positive for Covid- 19 and was admitted to Apollo Hospital on May 23.

Tamonash Ghosh had been with Mamata Benerjee for more than three decades. As a close aide, he had been a part of the rise and fall of Mamata Benerjee and a crucial member who was handling the finances of the party. He is the longest-serving treasurer of the party since its inception in 1998. Tamonash Ghosh has also been a three time MLA of Falta in south 24 Parganas district, a stronghold of TMC.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee conveyed her condolences through a twitter to the demised MLA Tamonash Ghosh; she said “Very, very sad, to mourn his demise”. Tamonash Ghosh, party treasurer since 1998 had to leave us today. Been with us for over 35 years, he was dedicated to the cause of the people & party. He contributed much through his social work”. “He has left a void that will be difficult to fill. On behalf of all of us, heartfelt condolences to his wife Jharna, his two daughters, friends and well wishers,” she added in another tweet.
