Tumakuru Court Orders Case against Kangana Ranaut over Farm Laws Tweet

Bengaluru: A Court in Tumakuru of Karnataka on Friday directed police to register an FIR against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut over her tweet pertaining to farmers opposing various new bills brought about by the Centre.

Tumakuru Judicial First Class Magistrate Vinod Balnaik directed Kyathasandra police to register a case and probe it, while along the application filed by Ramesh Naik an advocate. The case has been posted on for order on November 9. Referring to those protesting the Agri Marketing bills, Kangana in her tweet on September 21st: “People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people now spreading misinformation about farmer bills and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation”.

Advocate Ramesh Naik in his private complaint alleged the actress had hurt those who are opposing the farm bills and the same was provocative and aimed at promoting riots- violence. According to him, despite the tweet having the effect of causing collision in society, the authorities fail to take action, which should be remedied by way of Court intervention.
